Over the next two years, GKWFA will be completing the establishment of a four-year flight academy at Hawthorne High School. At full operational capacity, hundreds of students will receive daily ground, PC-simulated, and actual flight instruction. Flight students progress from gliders to powered aircraft, earning their Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Certified Flight Instructor licenses and ratings in the process. Aviation Maintenance students earn their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate upon graduation by working under the supervision of A&P instructors. They will be restoring a late 1960’s Mooney 20E and completing a Zenith 601 HD kit-built aircraft. Our revenue flows from public/private partnerships, including public school contracts, corporations, and individuals. Empower our students to achieve a career in aviation.
